The Beach

By Maggie Lai

Graceful waves
On sandy shores
A seagull flies up
And soars

Beautiful cockleshells
Lying around
Coast fan flowers
Stand their ground

The sand is delicate
The water is warm
Crabs can do you
Quite some harm

The water is sparkling
With diamonds and jewels
Here at the beach
The temperature never cools

Soft sand with
Beautiful shells and delights
Sand castles being destroyed
By waves rising great heights

Children in bathing suites
Running around
May grin and laugh
Stray hound

Idyllic describes
The beach
Sometimes with
Shells out of reach
